Saying No
“You have to say no to everything and free up your time so you can solve the important problems.” —Naval Ravikant
Focus can be tricky. It’s easy to get distracted, and there are so many interesting things to do and see and read and watch in the age of information abundance. But building great things and solving big problems takes a lot of time and effort. The ability to say no so that you have that time can be essential to achieving your goals.
And if you start achieving your goals and reach some level of success, you’ll likely know more people who will invite you to more things. And more people will want to know you so that they can then invite you to their things. There will be an ever-greater number of ways to spend your time by saying yes. But if you want success to compound the way you want your investments to compound, guarding your time so that you can keep your focus is of vital importance. As Warren Buffett is famous for saying:
“The difference between successful people and really successful people is that really successful people say no to almost everything.”
